Are you a 6th-8th grade student in Norman or a nearby area?
Do you have a desire to learn and grow in your leadership?
Are you interested in discovering and developing your passion?
Are you ready for new experiences and collaborating with new friends?
Between 4:00pm to 6:00pm, students are most likely to be influenced in either a positive or negative way. It is the choices they make during these afternoon hours and the people they spend time with that make a difference that can last a lifetime. Loveworks Afterschool Leadership is designed to help students make positive life choices, discover career paths, and set them on a trajectory for personal success. Students will improve their well-being and the community's well-being by pursuing a life where they can apply their unique leadership qualities and discover their dreams.
Volunteers and mentors facilitate groups, games, conversations, and meal times. Each student receives attention, a snack, and a nutritious dinner meal while participating in specialized projects involving local artists and community professionals. Experiential learning projects are geared towards developing skill sets within the students as well as real-life application of the skills that students learn.

We know that support from parents makes a big difference:
Students and parents or guardians interested in applying for a placement in the Loveworks Afterschool Leadership program should understand the expectations and commitment for participation.
ATTENDANCE + SCHEDULE
We ask that families commit to a 1 semester, once or twice-per-week attendance at Loveworks Afterschool Leadership.
Sample Schedule:
4:00 pm Student Arrival + Snack
4:30 pm Leadership and Character Building // Hands-on Project Learning
5:40 pm Dinner
6:00 pm Parent Pick-up
CODE & ATTITUDE
Students should commit to follow the Loveworks Code of being R.E.A.L.: Respectful, Encouraging, Appreciative, and Loving toward other students, volunteers, mentors, and staff. Determine to make the most of the opportunity to grow at Loveworks, disconnecting from technology, and challenging yourself in your personal growth.
TRANSPORTATION
Students at Alcott, Irving, Longfellow, and Whittier have transportation provided through Norman Public Schools buses directly from the school to Loveworks. Bus route information will be provided after registration. The program is open to all students from any district/homeschool, not just Norman Public Schools students!
READY TO GET STARTED
It is best for students to complete the application with a parent or guardian since questions are directed to both adults and students. Please allow 15-30 minutes to complete the application. We suggest that you carefully consider each question and respond in complete sentences.
Our staff reviews each application before a student is accepted to start the program. These applications help us to better know the students we are serving. Once accepted, students along with a parent/guardian must attend an orientation meeting before the student’s first day at Loveworks.

OUR NEW LOCATION
Have you been wondering where Loveworks is headed next? The wait is over—we are beyond thrilled to announce our big move to an incredible newly remodled space right in the heart of downtown Norman at 219 E Gray Street! Get ready for a new chapter filled with excitement, growth, and unforgettable experiences. We can’t wait to welcome you there!
We’re eagerly anticipating the return of students for our Afterschool Leadership Program. Spring 2025 programming is set to start on January 29th, 2025 at a temporary location while 219 E Gray is being remodeled.
While our goal is to move into the new space in March, we are taking extra care to plan for the possibility that construction may take longer than expected. As a result, we are actively securing a temporary location to serve us through the entire Spring 2025 semester (January 29th – May 1st).
Our team is committed to finding a great space that meets our needs in the meantime, and we will share more details about the temporary location with our families before the end of 2024.
